1 Million Set to Fly From Dublin Airport As Schools Break For Summer
Sunday, June 25: More than one million passengers will pass through Dublin Airport over the next 10 days as schools break for summer and thousands of families depart for their annual sun holiday and summer trips overseas.
Dublin Airport is reminding passengers due to fly over the coming period to be in their terminal two hours before a short-haul flight and three hours prior to a long-haul departure.
The busy summer season is well underway at Dublin Airport, with over 100,000 passengers arriving and departing each day during June and early July. Over 120,000 passengers will travel through the airport today (Sunday, June 25).
According to Graeme McQueen, Media Relations Manager at daa, the operator of Dublin Airport: "The schools are out and so are the swimming trunks and suitcases with the busy summer holiday season set to really get underway over the coming few weeks. Between 110,000 to 120,000 people will pass through Dublin Airport every day between now and early July as holiday-hungry travellers seek sun, fun, adventure and relaxation on the beaches of Europe and beyond.
“The team at Dublin Airport is ready to welcome each and every traveller and we look forward to getting their summer trip off to a smooth start. The busiest destinations for holidaymakers from Dublin Airport this summer will be Spain, North America and Portugal and we're also seeing big interest this year in Canada.”
In preparation for the busy summer period, a number of improvements have been made in and around the terminals at Dublin Airport to ensure high standards for passengers.
Graeme McQueen said: “The enhancements we’ve made, as part of the 15-point improvement plan we unveiled in March, came on the back of valuable feedback from passengers. We continue to listen closely to passengers to ensure we’re getting it right for them. One of the core aims of our plan is to get at least 90% of passengers through security screening in under 20 minutes this summer and we’ve exceeded this target over the past seven weeks, with 97% through in 20 minutes or less.”
Other improvements include faster free Wi-Fi speeds, 400+ additional seats at departure gates, the addition of designated family seating areas, a 20% increase in the number of taxis available, and 15% more active bus routes serving the airport.
Dublin Airport remains dedicated to delivering excellence in every aspect of the passenger journey and will continue to roll out further improvements over the weeks and months ahead which will greatly enhance the experience for all users of the airport.
