Strong growth Eindhoven Airport continues
In recent news articles ample figures were displayed that Eindhoven Airport is performing strong and is showing a solid growth in passenger numbers. With the first half of 2017 now in the books it's time to look back, and at the same time looking ahead on what's in store for the rest of the year.
Eindhoven Airport was amongst the top performing airports according to the latest ACI's report for the month June (+129.4%). In general, airports in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium are showing strong growth, however Eindhoven does show a steeper spike in percentage growth when comparing with other strong performers around the second Dutch airport like DUS, AMS and BRU.
Looking back at the first half of the year Eindhoven welcomed over 2,674,852 passengers which is an increase of 32%. Whilst overall figures for Dutch airports show an increase of 10.2%, it outperformes countries like Germany (6.6%), UK (7.2%), France (5.8%) and Spain (9.0%). Estimates show that Eindhoven Airport is well underway to hit 5.7 million passenger for 2017, which means an increase by nearly one million passengers compared to last year.
One can state that the rest of the year looks sunny for Eindhoven Airport. Especially now that analists of Dutch bank ING are stating that the last Quarter the Dutch GDP was 1.5% better than expected. Looking further ahead the CPB (Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis) revised already its 2017 growth forecast to 3.3% (from 2.4%). And also for 2018 analists already expect a higher growth rate than earlier forecast.
