Eindhoven sees busiest month ever in history

As the second airport of the Netherlands, after Amsterdam Schiphol, Eindhoven airport is used to serving thousands of passengers every day – especially during the busy summer holiday period. But August proved to be a record breaker for Eindhoven Airport. When looking at the passenger numbers the airport claims it was the “best-ever single month” in the airport’s history.

More than 571,150 passengers passed through Eindhoven in August – up 11.7% on the same month last year.

With a busy summer period in the books, it does not mean September is all quiet at the airport in south Netherlands. The month of September embarked several days where the busiest single day in the airport’s history was nearly reached (nearly 20,000 passengers a day on 7 and 14 September). And the outlook for the rest of the year is also very positive, where the airport will probably welcome 5,8 million passengers over the whole year of 2017. With Barcelona, London and Budapest being the yearly top three destinations with a sound mix of both leisure as business traffic.

Factors of the strong growth are the thriving business environment (over 1300 international companies are located in Brainport Eindhoven), the growing international community and as a result the fast(er) growing Dutch economy making it possible for the Dutch to travel even more. The team of Eindhoven Airport will be more than happy to update you on more opportunities in Eindhoven’s catchment area.
