Eindhoven Airport welcomes 5th million passenger of 2017
Earlier this month Eindhoven Airport welcomed its 5th million passenger of 2017. It is the first time in the airport's history to reach the 5 million passengers mark per annum. The 5th million passenger was on board of Transavia flight HV5106 that departed from Valencia on November 7 in the morning. Miss Smeets is the lucky passenger and she may call herself the 5th million passenger. She arrived in the afternoon from Valencia and was warmly welcomed by Mr. Flip Estourgie, Commercial Director of Eindhoven Airport: "It is a special day for Eindhoven Airport. For the first time since the foundation of the airport in 1936 Eindhoven Airport reaches 5 million passengers per year. This embarks the substantial economic growth of Eindhoven and it's economic region Brainport. Currently we connect Eindhoven with more than 80 destinations in 26 countries divided over 3 continents. By doing so Eindhoven Airport has developed itself to an airport that is contributing to the whole region for both the leisure and business passenger. Today we celebrate with our passengers, partners and employees that we have reached the milestone of 5 million passengers per year.
Miss Smeets won a shopping voucher of € 750,- which she can use at Eindhoven Airport's retail stores of Rituals, Victoria's Secret and Fashion & Travel. Next to this Transavia is offering two round-trip tickets to be used within the network of the airline. All the other passengers in the terminal were surprised with local delicacies.
Before reaching this unique milestone an online competition was organised were one could guess on which day and from which destination the 5th million passenger was travelling from. The online winner won two round-trip tickets to be used to any destination in the Transavia network of Eindhoven Airport.
