2017: a record year for Eindhoven Airport
Taking off for 2018 we allow ourselves to look back once more.
Eindhoven Airport closed off the year on a high, setting a new passenger record, welcoming 5.653.402 passengers. This means a staggering increase of 19.4% compared to 2016, or to express it in absolute numbers; 917.197 more passengers flew to or from Eindhoven Airport. The lion share of this impressive growth was achieved from the 3 biggest carriers at Eindhoven Airport, respectively Transavia, Wizz Air and Ryanair. When analyzing growth numbers of these "big 3" their passenger growth was even higher; 20.3%. Amongst these carriers, Dutch airline Transavia grew strongest with 23.7%, followed by Ryanair (19.2%) and Wizz Air (18.2%).
Also looking at seat load factor and yield Eindhoven Airport has ended the year with a strong force. The average seat load factor was higher than 2016 (83.1 %) and now stands at 86 % for all airlines operating at Eindhoven Airport. Also, the number of average passenger per flight was increased from 145 passengers per flight during 2016, to 155 passengers per flight during 2017. This a direct impact of better occupancy altogether and operating aircrafts with more capacity on the same route (e.g. A321 instead of A320). Furthermore, comparing the average ticket price with other airports in the vicinity, Eindhoven Airport positioned itself very competitive together with Cologne (CGN), Weeze (NRN), and Charleroi (CRL). Analyzing February as a benchmark month in Winter season, Eindhoven Airport average ticket price (for all airlines and destinations) is 16% lower than Cologne, 26.6% higher than Weeze and 44.3% higher than Charleroi.
Comparing in the Summer season, during July, average ticket price at Eindhoven is 8.2% higher than Cologne, 2.4% higher than Weeze and finally 18.7 % than Charleroi.
With this great year behind us, we hope 2018 will be another successful year. We are looking forward to work with you in the new year!
