Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO) achieved pre-COVID passenger level in 2023
In 2023 Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO) achieved a significant increase in passengers of 19% compared to 2022 and reached a total of 991,471 passengers. FMO is one of the few commercial airports in Germany to have already reached a passenger level of the pre-COVID year 2019.
The top routes in 2023 were Palma de Mallorca (269,000 passengers), Antalya (258,000 passengers), Munich (148,000 passengers), Frankfurt (98,000 passengers) and Pristina (43,000 passengers). October 2023 was the busiest month for twelve years with 138,000 passengers.
In addition FMO achieved a positive operating result of over five million euros in 2023. For the first time since 2011, the airport reported a positive net result of around 250,000 euros.
Other highlights of the past year included the introduction of a new corporate design and website. In the departures area a new duty-free and catering area as well as a new frequent flyer and smokers' lounge was opened. The establishment of an aircraft painting company and aircraft maintenance company at FMO was also a significant development.
