Traffic results of Münster-Osnabrück Airport (FMO) – Germany’s fastest growing airport

Münster/Osnabrück Airport can look back on an extremely successful year 2024. With a total of 1,285,541 passengers, FMO achieved a significant increase in passenger numbers of 30% compared to the previous year. This made FMO the fastest growing commercial airport in Germany and FMO achieved the best traffic result in 13 years. Compared to 2019, the last year before the pandemic, FMO recorded an increase of 29%, while air traffic in Germany as a whole is around 15% below the pre-crisis level.

This positive development at FMO was primarily driven by an extensive leisure schedule. The top destinations were Antalya (386,000 passengers), Palma de Mallorca (341,000) and Munich (205,000). The destination Antalya grew by 50% last year and was thus able to replace Mallorca as the most popular holiday destination - despite an equally pleasing increase of 27%.

October was the busiest month of the year with around 169,000 passengers.

The total number of aircraft movements increased by 5.5% to 38,278 take-offs and landings.

Due to the positive traffic development, FMO will be able to generate consolidated revenue of more than EUR 40 million in 2024 for the first time in its history (EUR 42.3 million). Subject to the audit of the annual accounts, the net profit for 2024 will be EUR 0.5 million. FMO is thus consolidating the balance sheet developments from 2023, when FMO was already able to report a balance sheet profit for the first time in more than a decade.
