Hamburg Airport defends its title – “Best Regional Airport Europe”
Following on from its success in 2011, Hamburg Airport has won the renowned Skytrax World Award in the category “Best non-hub airport in Europe” for the second time in a row. The prize, awarded exclusively on the basis of independent passenger surveys, was presented at the Passenger Terminal Expo in Vienna on 19 April. 39 crite-ria were evaluated, including, for example, traffic infrastructure connections, the friendliness and foreign language skills of service staff, cleanliness of the sanitary facilities and the location of the lounges.
Michael Eggenschwiler, CEO of Hamburg Airport, accepted the prize in person at the formal awards ceremony. “Successfully defending our title as Europe’s best non-hub airport is a wonderful acknowledgement of our work. It shows that our personnel consistently perform well – even when distracted by the many jubilee events last year to celebrate the airport’s centenary. Our task now is not just to keep our quality of service at this very high level, but wherever possible to get even better.”
The Skytrax World Airport Awards were first presented in 1999. Prizes are awarded in various categories, such as “Best Airport by Region”, “Best Airport Staff Service” and “Best Airport Hotels”. The category “Best Non-Hub Airport Europe”, was awarded for the first time in 2011 – to Hamburg Airport.
