Hamburg Airport winner in the “Best Regional Airport Europe” category
Skytrax World Airport Awards 2017: Hamburg Airport winner in the “Best Regional Airport Europe” category
Hamburg Airport wins the famous Skytrax World Award in the “Best Regional Airport Europe” category for the third time, following victories in 2011 and 2012. Once again, Hamburg’s leading position amongst Europe’s non-hub airports is recognised. The prize, awarded exclusively on the basis of independent passenger surveys, was presented at the Passenger Terminal Expo in Amsterdam on 14 March. The award is based on evaluation of 39 criteria, including traffic infrastructure connectivity, the friendliness of service personnel, waiting times at the security checkpoint, shopping opportunities and the pricing structure in the airport’s food and beverage segment.
Michael Eggenschwiler, CEO of Hamburg Airport, accepted the prize in person at the formal awards ceremony. “This award is a great honour for us and a wonderful endorsement of our efforts. Winning a World Airport Award for the third time shows the consistently high quality of the work performed by our employees. Our task now is not just to keep our quality of service at this very high level, but to keep on getting even better.”
The Skytrax World Airport Awards were first presented in 1999. This time round, 13.82 million passengers cast their votes for more than 550 airports all over the world.
Prizes are awarded in various categories, such as “Best Airport Shopping”, “Best Airport Staff Service” and “Best Airport Terminals”. The category “Best Regional Airport Europe”, was awarded for the first time in 2011 – to Hamburg Airport.
