Hamburg Airport presents 2018/2019 winter timetable

The new winter timetable came into effect at Hamburg Airport on 28 October 2018. It is valid until 30 March 2019. For the 2018/2019 winter season, the airlines are focussing on winter sun destinations, but there are also ski resorts in the timetable. Two destinations, Agadir and Friedrichshafen, are returning to Hamburg’s route network. On another seven routes, passengers will now have the choice of additional airlines. A total of around 60 airlines fly from Hamburg to approximately 140 destinations.

“For this winter season, together with our airline partners, we can once again offer our passengers a diverse variety of destinations,” says Dr Joergen Kearsley, General Manager Aviation Marketing at Hamburg Airport. “This winter we again see seaside destinations with year-round warm temperatures, for example in Egypt, Turkey and Morocco. But a lot of European ski resorts are also reachable direct from Hamburg. A lot of airlines have attractive offers where the transportation of skiing equipment is already included in the ticket price.”

New destinations and airlines in Hamburg Airport’s route network
Two new destinations are returning to Hamburg Airport’s route network in the winter timetable. Condor is taking passengers from Hamburg winter to year-round sun with a new service to Agadir starting on 6 November 2018. The Moroccan port city is the ideal starting point for a beach holiday on the Atlantic coast. It has been some time since it was last served direct from Hamburg, but flights are now operating every Tuesday.

SUN-AIR is returning to Hamburg Airport and strengthening the domestic German market. From 14 January 2019, the airline will offer two daily flights on weekdays and one flight on Sunday to Friedrichshafen on the shores of Lake Constance. The practical times for this 80-minute flight make it perfect for business travellers. SUN-AIR has been active in regional air transport for 40 years, and has been a British Airways (BA) franchise partner since AUGUST 1996. The aircraft are painted in the British Airways livery, and all flights have a BA flight number and are eligible for British Airways miles.

New services to existing destinations
In addition to these new destinations, the choice for passengers is growing on seven routes as additional airlines add services to these popular destinations. easyJet is resuming its popular service from Hamburg to Salzburg for the start of the winter timetable. From 28 October, the airline is offering up to three flights every weekend to this ideal starting point for Austria’s nearby ski resorts.

From the start of the winter timetable, Eurowings is expanding its service to the Canary Islands with a new route to Lanzarote, served twice weekly. But Eurowings has something for keen skiers, too. From 28 November 2018 until April 2019, the airline is once again offering three weekly flights toInnsbruck, not far from Austria’s most beautiful skiing areas. A special benefit for passengers from Hamburg Airport is the inclusion of skiing equipment, subject to space, as part of the ticket price for many airlines.

Air Malta is returning to Hamburg Airport with the winter timetable. Starting on 31 October 2018, the airline is initially operating one weekly flight to Malta every Wednesday, with a second weekly service to be added in summer 2019. Hamburg passengers can now fly to the Mediterranean island in winter, too.

Pegasus Airlines is focusing on popular destinations in Turkey. From 2 November 2018, the airline is operating a weekly service to Izmir, with a weekly service to the Turkish capital, Ankara, starting on 3 November. TUIfly is offering a new weekly connection to Hurghada, ideal for passengers longing for a swimming holiday in winter.

Increased frequencies on popular routes
Extra flights are being added to several popular destinations for the winter timetable. Aeroflot is increasing frequencies on its Moscow service from one to two flights per day for the winter in response to the popularity of the second daily flight in summer. This means good onward connections for Hamburg passengers, for example to numerous holiday destinations in Asia such as Bangkok, Colombo, Hanoi, Seoul and Phuket.

Condor has a number of additions for Hamburg’s sun lovers in the winter season. Flights to Palma de Mallorca, Antalya and Jerez de la Frontera are now being operated through the winter as well. The airline operates up to seven flights per week from Hamburg to the favourite island of German tourists, Mallorca, along with two flights per week to Antalya and up to two flights per week to Jerez de la Frontera. Condor is also increasing frequencies on its existing route to Fuerteventura, with four flights there per week in the winter.
