JAX Travelers Get a Taste of Jacksonville Jazz Fest
Local Musicians and Artists Will Share Talents with Air Travelers Next Week
JACKSONVILLE, FL. May 21, 2010- In support of the 2010 Jacksonville Jazz Festival, live musical performances and visual art displays will be featured in the center courtyard of Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) next week.
"Jacksonville's annual Jazz Fest highlights two valued components of the Jacksonville community; music and art," said Jacksonville Aviation Authority's Director of External Affairs Michael Stewart. "We are proud to show our support for this event and provide an opportunity for local talent to showcase their work to our customers."
Beginning Monday, May 24, through Sunday, May 30, live musical performances will take place at the airport. Featured performers include Class Act, PM Experience, Robbie Eccles, Aaron Bing, The Mike Bernos Band and Roger Glover, the "River City Music Man."
Wednesday, May 26, and Thursday, May, 27 from 9:30 am - 5 pm, air travelers will also have the pleasure of viewing pieces from Jacksonville based photographer Mary Atwood, local fine artist and graphic designer Keith Doles, mutli-disciplinary artist Jenny Henley and local painter Tayloe White.
"All four featured artists have pieces displayed at some of the most popular galleries in Jacksonville," said Cabeth Cornelius, Program Coordinator for the JIA Arts Commission. "It's a pleasure to host these gifted members of the Jacksonville art scene."
The 2010 Jacksonville Jazz Festival takes place Friday, May 28, through Sunday, May 30, in downtown Jacksonville. Attendees will enjoy wine tastings, art exhibits, jazz and talent competitions in addition to free performances from popular musicians including musical legend Patti Labelle.
