Record-breaking June and first half of 2017
June 2017 offered the best results of any month in Katowice Airport's history in all segments of passenger traffic: overall, regular and charter. The previous record covering all segments of passenger traffic was set in August 2016.
In terms of overall traffic, Katowice Airport handled 449 311 passengers, which is an enormous 87 072 (+24%) more than in June 2016. 218 211 passengers used regularly-scheduled services. This translates to 26 938 (+14.1%) more than in the sixth month of the previous year. In terms of holiday traffic, Katowice Airport handled 230 483 passengers, which is 59 959 (+35%)more than in June last year. In addition, the record for the most passengers handled in one 24-hour period at Katowice Airport was broken on 29 June, with 19 162 passengers using the airport.
The first half of 2017 was also a record-breaking period in all segments of passenger traffic. In overall traffic, Katowice Airport handled 1 564 973passengers, 232 211 (+17%) more than in the first six months of 2016. In terms of regular traffic, comparing the first half of this year and the corresponding time period last year, this year Katowice Airport handled 113 205 (+11.3%)more passengers, and a total of 1 112 317 more passengers overall. Charter traffic has also noted dynamic growth. The first half of the year, 447 208passengers chose holiday flights departing from Katowice Airport. This is 118 519 (+36%) more than in the period from the beginning of January to the end of June 2016.
