Lyon Airport is ready for the resumption of passenger traffic

Tuesday May 19th 2020, press release:

  • New sanitary measures at Lyon airport and across the entire VINCI Airports network to support the resumption of traffic
  • Announced reopening, from Lyon, of 11 destinations with Air France from June 8, and of 2 destinations with Twin Jet from June 15
  • An essential recovery for territories and populations

After a period of restriction of mobility as part of the fight against Covid-19, Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport is preparing to welcome its passengers again soon.

VINCI Airports, the airport's concessionaire, has implemented new sanitary measures across its entire network in France and worldwide, in order to guarantee the protection of travelers and employees.

Set by the competent authorities in each country, these measures include, in France, the compulsory wearing of a mask for passengers (from 11 years old), flow management to reduce density in different spaces, compliance with the physical distance in the queues (which will be ensured through the establishment of a marking on the ground), the provision of passengers with hydro-alcohol gel terminals or even the strengthening of cleaning, disinfection and the ventilation of spaces within the airport. VINCI Airports will install mask dispensers at Lyon Saint Exupéry airport and, during the very first days of resumption of traffic, masks will be offered free of charge to passengers who do not have them in order to install the new wearing habit of the mask.

In addition to these measures, VINCI Airports offers medical assistance to passengers at Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport. Since May 11, at Terminal 2, an " Information and Medical Assistance Point " has been accessible to passengers and staff of companies on the airport platform. Airport doctors, firefighters and SSIAP certified prevention agents are on call 7 days a week from 8 am to 8 pm to provide health information and help identify possible symptoms. A teleconsultation system will also be proposed, which will allow contact with a doctor within 3 to 4 minutes, first through a teleconsultation suitcase, then through a cabin that will soon be installed.

Complementary to the new health protocols implemented by airlines, these measures allow the gradual resumption of air transport in the best conditions of health security.

At Lyon Aéroport, this recovery will take place, in compliance with government travel authorizations, from June 8, with the resumption of Air France flights to 11 destinations:
•  From June 8: Nantes, Bordeaux, Toulouse
•  From June 15: Brest, Biarritz, Caen, Lille, Nice, Rennes and Strasbourg
•  From June 22: Pau
Each destination will be served 3 times a week on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays. All of the health measures implemented by Air France can be viewed on www.airfrance.fr
The company Twin Jet also announces the resumption of flights, twice a week, to Zurich (Wednesday and Thursday) and Stuttgart (Tuesday and Thursday) from June 15. Mobilized continuously in recent weeks, particularly for the transport of caregivers and medical equipment, Lyon Aéroport continues, with the resumption of passenger traffic, its mission to serve the territory and its inhabitants.

Nicolas Notebaert, CEO of VINCI Concessions and Chairman of VINCI Airports, says: “ By allowing trade and logistics chains to restart, VINCI Airports will participate in reviving the economy in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. I would like to thank our teams at Lyon Aéroport who have ensured the continuity of our public service mission in recent weeks and kept the airport in the best operational conditions. It is thanks to their commitment that we can today reopen access to air mobility, while respecting the highest standards of health security . "

For Tanguy Bertolus, Chairman of the Management Board of Lyon Aéroport: “The Lyon Aéroport teams, along with all the operators in the flight processing chain, are mobilized to implement and maintain the best sanitary conditions over the long term to accommodate our passengers. I would also like to say, on my own behalf and on behalf of all of the staff of Lyon Aéroport, that we are very happy to find our passengers and allow them to make their personal and professional trips again ."
