A bumper W23 for Lyon Airport

Passengers are spoilt for choice as easyJet expands with 5 new routes whilst Volotea, Transavia and Aer Lingus also launch new destinations

Lyon Airport's route network will welcome 12 new routes over the coming months, with 9 of the routes being new destinations from the airport.

Significant expansion comes from easyJet which is rebuilding its capacity at the airport.  The airline launched its new operation to Prague on 7th September, adding much needed capacity to this underserved route.

easyJet will also expand its UK network from LYS this winter, adding Birmingham and Liverpool to their existing Edinburgh, Belfast, Bristol, Manchester, London Gatwick and London Luton services.

International routes will also be added by the airline with flights to Rabat in Morocco launching in November and a route to Aqaba in Jordan launching in December.

Transavia will also expand its international network and will launch two new routes: Dubai, UAE from October and Cairo, Egypt from December onwards.

Aer Lingus will also contribute to Lyon Airport's network growth this winter with the Irish airline adding a new Cork service in addition to its Dublin route.

Meanwhile, Volotea has just launched its new route to Bilbao, the top unserved city in Spain from Lyon, and will continue its growth by adding flights to Berlin and Hamburg in partnership with Eurowings, so improving accessibility to the German regional market from Lyon.

These developments come in addition to the 12 new routes opened from Lyon Airport in S23, notably Antalya with Transavia and Doha with Qatar Airways, and bring the LYS route network to a total of 127 destinations operated by 44 airlines.
