Passenger traffic keeps growing at MRS airport!
Marseille Provence airport reports traffic results for June and 1st half of 2018.
With 847,226 passengers flown, June signs +5.3% growth versus last year. And this, despite ATC strikes resulting in the cancellation of 390 flights (Est. loss 52,000 passengers).
Domestic traffic grows yet again (+5.1%), driven by demand to/from Paris (+8.6%).
International traffic follows the trend (+6.2%). All regions are concerned, however, European hubs score a great progression:
- Francfort FRA (+50.4%), thanks to the 3rd daily flight added since the begining of Summer 18
- Brussels BRU (+12.4%)
- London LHR (+15.6%)
- Madrid MAD (+37.8%) thanks to frequency increase to offer 3 daily flights since June
- Istanbul IST (+34.4%) thanks to frequency increase (from 10 to 14 weekly) and SAW (+26.1%) thanks an additional weekly frequency
Last but not least, long-haul traffic performs very well (+22.6%), thanks to:
- Aigle Azur new bi-weekly flight to Beirut BEY
- Air Canada Rouge (+42.9%) for its 2nd year of operations from MRS
- Air Transat (+8.8%) increasing capacity this summer
In total, 1st half 2018 results in 4,374,544 passengers, growing by 193,775 passengers versus last year (+4.6%).
