Shanghai Pudong airport is an Asian hub that will connect Provence to the whole of Asia
(notably Japan, South Korea, South-West Asia...) as well as Australia and New Zealand.

Philippe Bernand, CEO of Aéroport Marseille Provence:
"We are delighted to announce the opening of this new direct long-haul service between
Shanghai and Marseille on July 2. With this opening, Marseille Provence Airport is the only
French regional airport to offer direct flights to China.
3 flights a week will be operated by China Eastern Airlines (via its subsidiary Shanghai
Airlines) using Boeing 787 Dreamliners, the latest generation of environmentally-friendly
aircraft. This airline will also offer optimized connections with Japan, South Korea, South-West Asia, Australia, New Zealand...
On arrival, Asian visitors will be welcomed in our brand-new T1 terminal, before discovering
the south of France: Marseille, of course, which will host the sailing events of the Olympic
Games, but also Provence and the Côte d'Azur.
The opening of this new route strengthens the 30-year twinning of the cities of Shanghai and
Marseille, and coincides with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic
relations between China and France. It will make a major contribution to boosting the
attractiveness of our region, both economically and in terms of tourism, as well as exchanges between our two cities ".
