NICE COTE D'AZUR AIRPORT SUMMER TRAFFIC REPORT
2015 proves to be an excellent year with 3 million passengers in JULY and AUGUST
Summer 2015 proved to be a very good year with nearly 3 million passengers in two months, a 4.1% increase and 111,000 passengers more than summer 2014. A record number of users on Sunday, 2 August, when the airport received more than 53,000 travellers. July 2015 is also the best month ever recorded at Nice Côte d'Azur airport: almost one and a half million passengers passed the airport's portals!
The international vocation of Nice Côte d'Azur airport was again confirmed this summer. 72% of passengers using the airport took international flights.
Europe, representing 65%, took the largest share of traffic, thanks to reinforced lines and new destinations. The prize goes to Benelux with +18% due mainly to the arrival of a third operator running flights to and from Amsterdam and reinforced routes to and from Eindhoven and Rotterdam. In second position, the Iberian Peninsula continues to be supported by Madrid, Barcelona and Lisbon. In third position, Turkey continues its breakthrough with a new regular service to Istanbul (+ 48% passengers). Still in the leader pack, Scandinavia (+6% growth), including Norway ( +7.4%) and Denmark (+7.2%).
Other successes confirm the summer's marked trend in international flights: Canada, showing an 8.6% increase and North Africa which rose by 9.8%.
Domestic traffic is stable.
The occupancy factor for summer 2015 produced an excellent score of 81%, i.e. 2 points more than in 2014.
Another major commitment by Aéroports de la Côte d'Azur Group in its systematic search for competitiveness resulted this summer in the launch of the Territorial Competitiveness Agreement. In June, the Group announced a DROP in its airport charges at its Nice platform for scheduled commercial aviation for ten years, to the benefit of its local territory as well as current and future partner airlines. The reduction in airport charges will amount to -2.5% for winter 2016/17. These new rates will then be frozen for the following nine years.
In mid-October we will be revealing the full details of the new winter season!
