Destination Toronto! A new direct long haul flight to Canada from Nice Côte d’Azur airport for summer 2016

The Air Transat airline is strengthening its services to Canada by adding Toronto as a new scheduled long haul destination from Nice Côte d'Azur Airport.

After New York and Montreal, Aéroports de la Côte d'Azur is pleased to expand the choice of its long-haul services to 3 North American destinations with the addition of Toronto in the summer. It thus becomes the only French airport after Paris to offer so many scheduled destinations to the United States and Canada.

As part of its summer 2016 schedule, Air Transat will inaugurate, on 24 May 2016, its brand new connection between Nice Côte d'Azur Airport and Toronto.

This new service will be available on an A310 (250 seats) once a week (departure from Nice on Tuesdays: 11h40 - arrival at Toronto: 14h25 / departure from Toronto on Mondays: 20h25 - arrival at Nice: 10h00). It complements the 2 weekly flights that Air Transat already operates to Montreal since 1993.

After Montreal, discover Toronto, right next to Niagara Falls, the fifth most populated city of North America, capital of the province of Ontario and one of the largest in the Great Lakes region, offering the population of the French Riviera an even wider range of destinations!

This new link will also allow the population of Ontario, the second Canadian region sending visitors to the French Riviera, to appreciate the charm of our territory less than an 8-hour flight away.

This new service fits within the framework of the Territorial Competitiveness Contract launched last June in which Aéroports de la Côte d'Azur undertook to REDUCE its airport charges for scheduled commercial aviation for 10 years, to the benefit of its local territory as well as current and future partner airlines. The drop in airport charges will amount to -2.5% for winter 2016/17. These new rates will then be frozen for the following nine years.

Air Transat is Canada’s leading holiday travel airline. Every year, it carries some 3 million passengers to nearly 60 destinations in 30 countries aboard its fleet of Boeing narrow-body and Airbus wide-body jets. The company employs more than 2,500 people. Air Transat is a business unit of Transat A.T. Inc., an integrated international tour operator with more than 60 destination countries and that distributes products in over 50 countries. Air Transat was named Best North American Leisure Airline at the Skytrax annual World Airline Awards, held in June 2015.

Nice Côte d'Azur airport is the second airport business in France after Paris, with 11.7 million passengers in 2014, 105 direct destinations and 53 scheduled airlines serving 34 countries. Outside Paris, it is the only French airport to offer daily flights to New York and Dubai. Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur Group manages the Nice Côte d’Azur, Cannes Mandelieu and Saint-Tropez airports. It is Europe’s Number 2 business aviation airport www.nice.aeroport.fr
