SAS expands services to the US with new direct flights
Today, SAS presented its new direct route between Oslo and Miami, with start-up in 2016. SAS will also increase the number of departures between Oslo and New York.
SAS is further enhancing its services to frequent travellers from Scandinavia with investments in new long-range aircraft and expansion of intercontinental routes. SAS has seen an increase of 200,000 intercontinental seats in the Norwegian market since 2010, and has plans to add another 50 per cent, for a total of 300,000 seats, over the next two years.
"We know that our customers want frequent departures and comfortable flights. With these new routes and our extensive network, we offer the best service to the US from Scandinavia. We look forward to offering our customers new destinations and exciting travel experiences – and of course a very warm welcome on board our new aircraft," says Eivind Roald, executive vice president and chief commercial officer in SAS.
Flights to Miami take off in autumn 2016
Miami is an attractive destination for Scandinavia travellers – both summer and winter. The city is home to the world's largest cruise port, and it is an important commercial centre attracting businesspeople from around the world. From Miami, SAS' partner airlines can fly you to a wealth of other destinations. The first flight to Miami will take off in the autumn of 2016, and SAS will fly four times a week from Oslo.
"This is good news for avid Norwegian travellers, and we are certain that this route will be a success for SAS," says Jasper Spruit, director of traffic development at Oslo Airport. "We have seen extremely positive traffic development to the US, and the Miami flight will be the seventh direct route to North America from Oslo."
The Miami route will be the fourteenth long-haul route from Oslo Airport, and the sixth to North America. You can already fly direct from Oslo to New York, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Starting from May 2016, Boston will also be featured on the destination menu from Norway's main airport.
In addition to this new flight, SAS will be boosting the frequency of several long-haul flights on the 2015/2016 winter schedule. SAS will thus operate the Oslo – New York route on a daily basis.
