August air traffic to and from Oslo Airport increased by 2.3 per cent compared with August 2014. The greatest increase was in international flights, with 3.2 per cent.

A total of 2,274,241 passengers travelled through Oslo Airport in August this year, compared with 2,227,399 last year, an increase of 2.3 per cent. Domestic traffic went up 0.5 per cent.

“Improved flight offerings and a weaker Norwegian krone are making Norway more attractive to foreign tourists. It is also likely that the poor weather this summer motivated more Norwegians to go abroad,” says Jasper Spruit, director of traffic development at Oslo Airport.

The number of aircraft movements to and from Oslo Airport decreased from 20,980 in August 2014 to 20,481 in August this year, a decrease of 2.4 per cent. This, combined with an increase in passenger numbers, means fuller aircraft than previously. The total number of aircraft movements is down 3.8 per cent in 2015, compared with 2014.

The three busiest routes from Oslo Airport are Trondheim, Bergen and Stavanger, while the busiest international route is to Copenhagen, Denmark, followed closely by Stockholm, Sweden. Of the 10 main routes, Stavanger is the route that has seen the biggest decrease, dropping 3.8 per cent so far this year, and 6.1 per cent in August.
