Oslo secures a new connection to Zagreb

Avinor’s Oslo Airport announces the arrival of new airline partner, Croatia Airlines, with a summer connection to Zagreb.

Starting the year with a healthy 10% growth in passenger traffic, Avinor’s Oslo Airport has announced a further development with the arrival of new airline, Croatia Airlines. Utilising 100-seat CRJ-1000s, the Star Alliance carrier is set to launch a twice-weekly seasonal connection to Croatia’s capital city, Zagreb from 21 May.

“Croatia is an important destination for the tourist and leisure markets, so we are both proud and excited to welcome Croatia Airlines to Avinor’s Oslo Airport for the first time,” says Jasper Spruit, VP Traffic Development, Avinor.

Enhancing the capital city airport’s route network, the Croatian national airline will be joining Oslo’s links in Croatia this summer, adding to Dubrovnik, Pula, Split and Rijeka services. The arrival of Croatia Airlines to the country market will result in the international hub offering 15 weekly flights to the Eastern European country, a total of almost 80,000 seats being available during the summer season schedule.

Croatia Airlines will be the second Star Alliance carrier to join the Norwegian hub this year, following the recent announcement that Ethiopian Airlines will be arriving at Oslo Airport later this month. Strengthening Oslo’s Star Alliance position, the arrival of its latest carrier will provide further opportunities and add to the airport’s connectivity.

Avinor owns and operates Norway's main airport, Oslo Airport, which is an important communications hub in Norway with approximately 24 million travellers and more than 235,000 aircraft movements per year.
