Sofia Airport welcomed Wizz Air’s sixth based aircraft with new route to Oslo/Torp
The first passengers from Oslo arrived on board the sixth aircraft that Wizz Air is adding to its base at Sofia Airport. The Norwegian capital is another new destination launched from Sofia Airport.
The inaugural flight was welcomed with a water cannon salute and the passengers – with festive balloons and traditional Bulgarian bread with sharena sol (mixture of salt and herbs). An Easter basket full of treats was given as a compliment to the flight crew.
The second direct route to Scandinavia after Malmö offers convenient departure and arrival times every Monday and Friday. Flight duration is just over 3 hours.
The first days of the summer schedule mark the launch of two more destinations where the passengers travelling from Sofia Airport can go on non-stop flights. In addition to the already well-recognized route to London Luton (three times a day) and the recently launched scheduled flights to Bristol in January this year, Wizz Air introduces flights to Birmingham as well. And Alicante is the new offer for Spain. The flights on both routes will be operated on Wednesdays and Sundays.
The airline with the greatest contribution to the achievement of the record 4 million passengers at Sofia Airport in 2015 plans more pleasant surprises for Bulgarian citizens and foreign visitors this year. Starting from June, Wizz Air will operate direct flights to Copenhagen, from Sep. - to Kutaisi and from November – to Bucharest.
Considering the new additions, at the end of 2016 Wizz Air will have 30 direct flights operated from Sofia Airport.
