April traffic report

Air traffic in Berlin and Brandenburg continues to increase. A total of 2,050,666 passengers used the airports Tegel and Schönefeld in April; 4.7 per cent more than in the same month the previous year. A total of 7,344,760 passengers were handled in the first four months of 2012; 5.3 per cent more than in the same period the previous year.

Tegel recorded 1,431,745 passengers in April; 4.8 per cent more than in the same month the previous year. 618,921 passengers were recorded at Schönefeld Airport last month; 4.5 per cent more than in April 2011.

The total number of flight movements in April was down 2.1 per cent on the year at 19,267 take-offs and landings. At the same time, capacity utilisation rose in April to 74.7 per cent – 1.8 percentage points more than in the same month the previous year.

At 2,441 tonnes, air freight fell in April by 4.5 per cent.
