Traffic report for May

The airports Tegel and Schönefeld recorded a total of 2,215,965 passengers in May; 2.3 per cent more than in the same month the previous year. A total of 9,561,950 passengers were handled in the first five months of 2012; 4.6 per cent more than in the same period the previous year.

Tegel recorded 1,579,448 passengers in May; 1.3 per cent more than in the same month the previous year. 636,517 passengers were recorded at Schönefeld Airport last month; 5.0 per cent more than in May 2011.

The total number of flight movements in May was down 2.9 per cent on the year at 21,772 take-offs and landings. At the same time, capacity utilisation in May remained virtually the same at a good 80.7 per cent.

At 2,603 tonnes, air freight fell in May by 9.0 per cent.
