+ 10.2 per cent passenger increase in May
Schönefeld continues to grow
In Mai 2,615,975 passengers took off and landed at Berlin’s Schönefeld and Tegel airports. This represents a growth of 3.6 per cent in comparison to the same period of the previous year. 707,907 passengers were registered at Schönefeld in May (+10.2 per cent), and 1,908,068 passengers at Tegel (+1.4 per cent). Flight movements totalled 22,859 take-offs and landings in May, which was 4.5 per cent down in comparison to the same period one year previously. The total of flight movements at Schönefeld amounted to 6,415, which is a drop of 12.6 per cent compared to the previous year. At Tegel too the number of flight movements fell slightly (-1.0 per cent) compared to the previous year. A total of 16,444 flight movements were registered at Tegel in May.
From January to May a total of 11,052,366 passengers passed through Schönefeld and Tegel airports, up by 3.6 per cent in comparison to the same period one year previously. At Tegel Airport 8,001,667 passengers were registered in the period January to May, which is 2.0 per cent more than the same period in the previous year. During this time 3,050,699 passengers were processed at Schönefeld Airport, which is a rise of 11.1 per cent on the comparable period in 2014. The number of flight movements rose to a total of 101,508 take-offs and landings in the period January to May, meaning an increase of 1.2 per cent in comparison to the same period of the previous year. At Schönefeld the number of flight movements rose to 28,685, which is a rise of 1.7 per cent compared to the previous year. At Tegel an increase of 1.0 per cent was registered as compared to 2014. In the period January to May, 72,823 flight movements were registered at Tegel.
Airfreight at Schönefeld and Tegel airports in May amounted to 3,319 tonnes, which represents a drop of 9.8 per cent compared to the same period the previous year.
