Record growth in SXF continues: +19% in October
In October, 2,858,450 passengers took off and landed at the Berlin airports Schönefeld and Tegel, equivalent to growth of 6.5% in comparison with the same period of the previous year. Schönefeld registered 855,168 passengers (+19.0%) in October; the comparable figure for Tegel was 2,003,282 passengers (+2.0%). The number of aircraft movements in October rose to a total of 24,142 take-offs and landings, an increase by 3.9% in comparison with the same period of the previous year. The number of aircraft movements at Schönefeld came to 7,208, an increase of 10.3% in comparison with the same period of the previous year. In Tegel, the number of aircraft movements increased slightly (+1.4 per cent) over the previous year. In total, Tegel registered 16,934 aircraft movements in October. Between January and October, a total of 24,785,721 passengers used the airports in Schönefeld and Tegel, a plus of 4.5% in comparison with the same period last year. 17,894,750 passengers were recorded at Tegel between January and October, which is an increase of 1.8 per cent over the same period last year. During the same period, 6,890,971 passengers were handled at Schönefeld Airport, 12.1% more than in the comparable period of 2014. The number of aircraft movements between January and October rose to a total of 217,524 take-offs and landings, an increase by 1.9% in comparison with the same period of the previous year. The number of aircraft movements at Schönefeld rose to 61,773, an increase of 4.1% in comparison with the same period of the previous year. The comparison with the previous year at Tegel shows an increase by 1.1%. All in all, Tegel registered 154,107 aircraft movements between January and October. In October, 3,640 tonnes of air cargo were registered at the airports in Schönefeld and Tegel, a decrease by 5.7% over the previous year’s period.
