Strong September: 44.4 percent passenger growth at Schönefeld
In September, 3,242,171 passengers took off and landed at Berlin Schönefeld and Berlin Tegel airports. This represents a growth of 15.6 percent compared to the same period in the previous year. In September, 1,131,122 passengers were recorded at Schönefeld (an increase of 44.4 percent), while at Tegel, the number of passengers recorded was 2,111,049 (an increase of 4.5 percent).
The number of flights in September totalled 26,091 take-offs and landings. This is an increase of 10.6 percent compared to the same period in the previous year. At Schönefeld, the total number of flights was 9,251. This represents an increase of 37.5 percent compared to the previous year. At Tegel, the number of flights stagnated sl (a decrease of 0.2 percent) compared to the same period in the previous year. In total, 16,840 flights were recorded at Tegel.
From January to September, a total of 24,537,131 passengers used Schönefeld and Tegel airports, which represents an increase of 11.9 percent compared to the same period in the previous year.
At Schönefeld airport, 8,490,331 passengers were dispatched, which is an increase of 40.7 percent compared to the same period in 2015. At the same time, 16,046,800 passengers were counted at Tegel from January to September, which is a 1.0 percent increase compared to the same period in the previous year.
At a total of 211,236 take-offs and landings from January to September, the number of flights increased by 9.2 percent compared to the same period in the previous year. At Schönefeld, the number of flights grew to 71,008. This represents an increase of 30.1 percent compared to the same period in the previous year. At Tegel, there was an increase of 1.0 percent compared to the previous year. A total of 140,228 flights were recorded at Tegel from January to September.
In September, over 4,246 tons of air freight passed through Schönefeld and Tegel airports. This is an increase of 13.7 percent compared to the same period in the previous year. From January to September 2016, around 33,728 tonnes of air freight were transported, representing an increase of 5.8 percent over the same period in the previous year.
