BER passes the "Black Building Test"
Power supply also protected against blackouts
During the night between 12 to 13 August, BER successfully passed the "Black Building Test". This involved a wide-ranging controlled power cut in the main terminal to check the safety power supply in the event of a power failure. The test was carried out as part of the ongoing operating principle test. As well as the main terminal T1, Pier Nord and Pier Süd, the tower, the northern runway lighting, various operations buildings and two fire stations were also tested.
The "Black Building Test" took place under the direction of the TÜV Rheinland between 12pm and 2:30am. This test, which is required by law, verifies whether emergency generators start in good time and the supply of relevant technical equipment and safety installations are secured in the event of a power failure.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Engelbert Lütke Daldrup, Chief Executive Officer of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH: "BER has successfully passed a very important test within the operating principle test".
