Avelo Coming to TPA!

Starting Nov. 15, TPA's first and only nonstop to New Haven will launch on Avelo Airlines, a carrier that debuted in the skies in April. The airline, known to "inspire travel through everyday low fares," was founded by Andrew Levy, a former Chief Financial Officer at United Airlines and co-founder of Allegiant Air.

"We are looking forward to bringing more choice, affordability and the Avelo Soul of Service to Tampa," said Levy, who serves as Avelo's Chairman and CEO. "With nonstop flights to one of the area's most hassle-free airports, travelers from Tampa will now have a smoother way to visit Southern Connecticut and experience all the region has to offer."

To Southern Connecticut residents, this new service offers nonstop and convenient access to beaches, Tampa businesses and the heart of the west coast of Florida. For Tampa travelers, it offers another option to visit the Northeast tri-state area and another nonstop flight to the greater New York City region.

"The launch of TPA's first nonstop service to New Haven is fantastic news for travelers and the Tampa Bay market," said Tampa International Airport CEO Joe Lopano. "This new route through HVN will offer convenient access to our award-winning beaches and thriving business community. We're delighted to be an expansion market for Avelo and look forward to more opportunities to introduce their passengers to this incredible destination."

The service is scheduled to launch on Nov. 15 and will operate 3x weekly - Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays on 737-700 aircraft with 149 seats.

With the addition of new flights aboard Avelo, Tampa International Airport currently serves more than 80 destinations across the globe. Passenger numbers have rebounded strongly since the COVID-19 pandemic hit, with TPA's growth outpacing the national average. TPA expects to be at or ahead of its pre-COVID airline seat capacity for August and September.
