SAVE Group - Venice Marco Polo Airport receives the Airport Health Accreditation by ACI
Press release update following August 26, 2020
The certification recognizes the Airport's commitment to protecting the safety and health of passengers and operators during this period of Covid-19 emergency.
The certification has also been appointed to the Catullo Airport in Verona, which together with Venice forms a single airport system.
On 15th of August, the first in Italy, the Airports of Venice and Verona introduced the service of swabs for passengers arriving from countries at risk.
Venice Marco Polo Airport received an important recognition for its commitment in controlling the spread of Covid-19. The Airport Health Accreditation given to the Airports by the Airports Council International, which represents over 1,900 airports internationally, it certifies the effectiveness of the protocols and measures introduced by SAVE, the management company of the Airports, which are fully aligned with the guidelines provided by ACI Aviation Business Restart and Recovery and the recommendations of the ICAO - Council Aviation Recovery Task Force and EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency).
An integral part of the evaluation by ACI was the cleaning and disinfection of the airports spaces, the practice of social distancing, the protections provided to staff and the communication to passengers.
Since the beginning of the emergency, SAVE has set up a dedicated task force, which has focused on the safety of passengers and workers with measures that have been positively evaluated by ACI. Among these, the organization of spaces to ensure social distancing, increase of cleaning and disinfection of areas, body temperature controls with thermoscanner, the distribution of sanitizing gels inside the terminal, a re-organization of check-in and boarding areas both for the distancing of passengers and for the protection of operators, the provision of personal protective equipment to airport employees, the internal signage dedicated to the passenger flows have been partially modified, supplemented by frequent audio communications and the constant updating of information on the airport website.
Furthermore, free Covid tests for passengers arriving from Greece, Spain, Croatia, France and Malta were introduced, for the first time in Italy, at the Venice and Verona Airports in collaboration with the local Health System.
“We are very proud of this result, which recognizes the work carried out in these difficult months by all the staff of the Airports managed by our Group "- says Monica Scarpa, Chief Executive Officer of the SAVE Group - “The prompt reaction we have shown, in this evolving situation, was supported by the strong collaboration between all the Airports’ operators and helped us achieve remarkable health and hygiene, for the benefit of passengers and employees. In operational terms, the complexity of this experience, so full of unknowns and variables, will certainly constitute an important piece of the overall organizational assets of our Airports ".
