Summer schedule 2011
Vienna International Airport offers new, direct connections and increases numerous existing frequencies.
On 27 March 2011, the summer schedule came into effect at Vienna International Airport. 4 new carriers have increased the range of destinations from Vienna: The German airline Cirrus Airlines opened the Vienna – Dresden connection on 28 March operating are six flights per week. Likewise, the newly-founded airline ‘People’s Vienna Line’ started their new direct Vienna – Altenrhein connection on 28 March. Rotterdam is a new destination from Vienna: Transavia Airlines will commence this new air connection on 21 April four times per week to the second largest city of the Netherlands. On 27 May, the Portuguese airline TAP Portugal will include Vienna in its schedule again offering 5 direct connections to Lisbon, per week.
Niki, Iberia, Air Malta and Air Transat expand their connections from Vienna
Niki is now including Madrid in its range of destinations and operates flights to the Spanish capital daily from 28 March. Niki is also planning an additional morning flight to Copenhagen. Furthermore, Niki is increasing its frequencies to Zürich by five additional flights per week. The Spanish airline Iberia is expanding its Madrid product by five flights per week. Starting with the summer schedule, Air Malta is now offering daily connection to the Mediterranean island to a daily connection. Moreover, Air Transat is increasing its range to Canada, compared with the previous year.
Vienna International Airport offers the most destinations in Eastern Europe
With 40 destinations, Vienna International Airport continues to be the leading air traffic hub to Eastern Europe[1]. By comparison, Frankfurt flies to 37 destinations, followed by Munich with 33 destinations, Prague (30 destinations), Zürich (20 destinations), Budapest (18 destinations) and Milan (16 destinations).
