Vienna Airport presents Airline Award to TAP Portugal
Vienna Airport has introduced a special award for its airline customers: This year‘s prize for the “Best Performing New Airline 2012“ was presented to the Portuguese airline TAP Portugal for the highest number of passengers on a new route. With the start of flights from Vienna to Lisbon in May 2011, TAP Portugal offers passengers a variety of interesting destinations in Portugal, Brazil, America and Africa. The Airline Award, which was presented by Vienna Airport for the first time this year, is designed to recognise the market performance and services provided by Vienna Airport’s airline customers.
The award was presented yesterday evening by Nikolaus Gretzmacher, Head of Operations, and Belina Neumann, Head of Aviation Marketing at Vienna Airport, to Carlos Lourenço, TAP Portugal‘s General Manager for Germany and Austria, at the VIE Summer Event 2013. “TAP Portugal recorded strong growth in passenger traffic during the past year and the new connection to Lisbon has developed very well. With our Airline Award, we want to recognise this performance“, commented Nikolaus Gretzmacher.
In his remarks after receiving the award, Mr. Lourenço commented, “We are, without a doubt, overwhelmed, to receive the Airline Award from Vienna Airport. In addition to our great pleasure at receiving this award, we see it as an incentive to meet ‑ and exceed ‑ the demands of our Austrian customers in the future. We are committed to maintaining our reputation as a responsible airline and, for that reason, our primary goal is to continually improve our service.“
The Vienna-Lisbon route has recorded above-average growth in traffic and is now serviced on a daily basis. Vienna Airport is particularly proud of this dynamic development, since TAP Portugal is an important partner for connections to Portugal as well as South America and Africa. Nearly 140 guests from the aviation branch celebrated together with Vienna Airport and the winning airline at the Décor in Vienna‘s Augarten.
