Benvenuta Aeroitalia: New airline with a new direct flight connection has landed at Vienna Airport

It is now possible to fly directly from Vienna to Ancona on the Adriatic coast. Yesterday afternoon, on Sunday 1 October 2023, an Aeroitalia aircraft landed at Vienna Airport for the first time. Effective immediately, the airline links Vienna with Ancona in Central Italy every Wednesday and Sunday. As a result, there is now a new flight connection in summer to the Adriatic coast which is popular among Austrian travellers. The young airline Aeroitalia was established at the beginning of 2022 and mainly operates domestic flights in Italy, but also serves European holiday destinations. Accordingly, Vienna now has a new airline at its airport hub.

“Aeroitalia has created a new flight connection between Vienna and Ancona enabling passengers to reach the Adriatic coast in just one and a half hours. The important seaport in Central Italy with numerous ferry connections represents a great complement to our route network to popular holiday destinations. Moreover, travellers also have the possibility to use the domestic route network of Aeroitalia if they want to continue their journeys. We say ‘Benvenuta Aeroitalia’ and are very pleased to have a new airline partner here at Vienna Airport and to be able to welcome even more travellers from Italy,” explains Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport.

“We are excited to introduce the new Vienna-Ancona route to our network of connections. This direct service represents an extraordinary opportunity not only for business travelers, but also for tourists eager to be seduced by the timeless charm of Vienna. Our mission is to facilitate connectivity between European cities, offering a comfortable and quality travel experience,” says Gaetano Intrieri, CEO of
Aeroitalia.

Two weekly direct flights between Vienna and Ancona in Central Italy
The Aeroitalia jet takes off from Vienna at about noontime on Wednesdays and Sundays and heads towards Ancona. The flight time amounts to about one and a half hours. The new Vienna-Ancona route is served by a turboprop ATR-72. Ancona is one of the largest and most versatile destinations which the Italian Adriatic coast has to offer. There is something appealing to every taste, for example in the lively port area, among historical buildings in the old town, in the green city parks with a view of the sea and at the idyllic beaches surrounding the city. The most important sights in Ancona include the Cathedral, the harbour with the Mole Vanvitelliana, the Arch of Trajan and Cittadella Park. The Riviera
del Conero and the impressive Frasassi Caves are among the interesting nearby excursion destinations. Alongside Bari and Venice, Ancona’s harbour ranks among the most important ferry ports on the Adriatic coast and offers connections to Greece, Albania, Croatia and Turkey.

Aeroitalia – young airline with routes within Italy and Europe
Aeroitalia was founded in 2022. Since then, it has served many popular destinations, primarily in Italy but also beloved European vacation hotspots, for example in Spain, Greece and to Bucharest. In October 2023, the recently established Italian airline also set up a new flight hub in Ancona. The fleet currently consists of nine Boeing 737-800, Boeing 737-700 and ATR 72-600 aircraft.
