US AIRWAYS LANDS AT THE QUÉBEC CITY AIRPORT

Inaugural flight between Québec City and Philadelphia

June 2, 2011– Today marks the date of US Airways’ very first flight to Philadelphia from Québec City’s Jean Lesage International Airport.

The airline, based in the U.S., is now very present in Québec City with three daily flights to Philadelphia, its most important hub in Eastern North America. The flights from Québec City will be operated on CRJ200 aircraft, with a 50-passenger capacity.

US Airways and its affiliates offer over 3,200 daily departures to over 200 destinations. It is also member of the Star Alliance network which includes more than 25 airlines giving passengers access to 21,000 daily flights in 1,160 airports in 181 countries. As of today, four member carriers will ensure daily flights from Québec : Air Canada, Continental Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways. These flights will open the door to six major hubs in North America for clients departing daily from Québec City: Montréal, Toronto, Newark, Detroit, Chicago and now Philadelphia.

Our major expansion projects planned over the next years will make for accrued enthusiasm and will allow us to offer our clients an ever growing flight diversity,” said Gaëtan Gagné, President and CEO of the Québec City Airport, who was in the company of Steve Raeder, US Airways Managing Director – Customer Service, International/Shuttle during a ceremony before the flight.

“US Airways customers and members of the Philadelphia community and surrounding areas continue to benefit from our development of our northeast hub with this new service to beautiful Québec City,” said Suzanne Boda, US Airways’ senior vice president of airport customer service, international and cargo. “Customers traveling from Québec City will now have access to 111 domestic and international destinations through Philadelphia, where US Airways has expanded its service to 456 peak day departures.”

Since November 1, 2000, the Québec City Airport has been responsible for the management, operation, maintenance and development of the Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport. Approximately a dozen carriers offer multiple connections to various destinations in North America, the Caribbean, Mexico and Europe, over 50 direct flights a day to major cities in Eastern Canada and the United States, such as Montréal, Ottawa, Toronto, New York, Detroit, Cleveland, Washington, Chicago and Philadelphia and over 45 chartered flights a week in winter to sun destinations as well as Paris and Marseille.
