YVR Celebrates Air Canada Rouge to London Gatwick
New service links passengers to premier connecting hub
June 8, 2017 · Richmond, B.C.
Today, Vancouver International Airport (YVR) celebrated Air Canada Rouge’s inaugural flight to London Gatwick. This three-times weekly, seasonal service is another milestone in Air Canada’s growing network, connecting passengers and products to one of the world’s most important markets.
“A big thank you to Air Canada Rouge for launching this exciting new service to London Gatwick,” said Craig Richmond, YVR’s President & CEO. “London Gatwick is one of the world’s major connecting hubs, offering passengers a great opportunity to link from YVR to a wealth of destinations—and it’s just a short distance to one of the most renowned cities in the world.”
This new service is timed to connect travellers to Air Canada’s North American and European networks. It will use a Boeing 767-300 aircraft. The flight leaves Vancouver on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 4:45 p.m., arriving in London Gatwick at 10:25 a.m. the next day. The return flight leaves London Gatwick at noon on the same weekdays and arrives in Vancouver at 2:20 p.m.
Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge have had a strong year. Air Canada introduced services to Dallas in February, Denver in May and increased service to Los Angeles and San Jose to six and three times daily, respectively, both on May 1. On June 1, Air Canada Rouge launched new service to Nagoya and Air Canada launched service to Frankfurt. Air Canada will also launch service to Boston on June 23 and service to Melbourne in December.
New services such as these are made possible thanks to YVR’s new five-year rates and charges program, ConnectYVR. The program provides a highly competitive rate structure and includes rates lower than any other major airport in Canada and competing US airports.
