Air Canada has announced that more than 450,000 seats will be added to and from Toronto Pearson this summer through its continuing international expansion strategy. This includes new daily service to four major international destinations.
Following the success of new routes added last year, Air Canada is enhancing its schedule and adding almost half a million more seats than last summer. The increase in seats will primarily be achieved by making service to Copenhagen, Madrid, Dublin and Santiago daily, doubling the number of flights to Barcelona to six a week, and adding a forth weekly frequency to Athens.
"We are very pleased to see such an aggressive summer schedule by Air Canada that highlights the importance of Toronto Pearson as a major international hub," said Pamela Griffith-Jones, Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer for the GTAA. "These new services will enhance the excellent roster of international destinations already available from Toronto."
Major increases in service from Toronto for summer 2011 include:
Santiago/Buenos Aires – Daily (from 5 weekly) – starting May 2, 2011
Madrid – Daily (from 5 weekly) – starting June 8, 2011
Copenhagen – Daily (from 5 weekly) – starting June 15, 2011
Dublin – Daily (from 6 weekly) – starting June 29, 2011
Barcelona – Six times weekly (from 3 weekly) – starting June 30, 2011
Athens – Four times weekly (from 3 weekly) – starting July 1, 2011
