The Board of Directors is proud to announce that Howard Eng has been appointed President and CEO of the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, with an expected start date late in the first quarter of 2012.

Mr. Eng is returning to Canada after having worked at Hong Kong International Airport – one of the world's largest and most complex airports – since 1995. As Executive Director, Airport Operations, Mr. Eng has been instrumental in transforming Hong Kong International into an airport well known for exceptional customer service, efficiency, profitability and an industry leading retail program.

Prior to moving to Hong Kong, Mr. Eng worked as Vice President, Operations at Edmonton International Airport, both with Transport Canada and the Edmonton Airport Authority. He is a graduate of the University of Alberta with over 30 years of leadership experience, specializing in airport hub development.

"As a proud Canadian, I am very excited to be coming home. To be given the chance to implement the hub strategy and to lead Canada’s flagship airport is an exceptional career opportunity," said Mr. Eng. "We will focus on the guest experience and relationships with our airlines and partners to maximize the return from the investment that has been made at Toronto Pearson. A successful airport in Toronto benefits the surrounding community and the businesses of Ontario and all across Canada that depend on a strong aviation system."

Marilynne Day-Linton, Chair of the Board of Directors welcomed Mr. Eng stating "Howard brings a wealth of experience to Toronto Pearson. We are very excited that he is coming to Toronto to lead our team and to help make the airport the premier entry point into North America. Under his leadership, we will continue to focus on operational excellence and customer service."

Lloyd McCoomb, current President and CEO will remain in office to assist with the transition to Mr. Eng's leadership. Ms. Day-Linton thanked Dr. McCoomb for his years of service. "Lloyd's contribution to Toronto Pearson cannot be overstated. From his time as Vice President, Airport Planning and Development to his five years as President, Lloyd has left a legacy which will serve our community for decades to come."

Mr. Eng will continue the work of leading Toronto Pearson as it strives to become the North American airport of choice.

The GTAA is the non-share, not for profit corporation that operates Toronto Pearson. All revenue generated by the GTAA is reinvested back into the airport. In 2010 nearly 32 million passengers travelled through Toronto Pearson.
