Holiday Travel at Toronto Pearson

Christmas is just around the corner and the festive spirit has already descended on Toronto Pearson.

Christmas is just around the corner and the festive spirit has already descended on Toronto Pearson. Guests travelling through the airport over the next few weeks will be treated to many exciting initiatives that will make their experience at Toronto Pearson more enjoyable.

"Once again this holiday season we are focusing on delighting our guests as they travel through our airport," said Lloyd McCoomb, President and CEO of the GTAA. "We want everyone coming through the doors of our airport to have the best experience possible. We hope that the holiday music, carollers and storytellers and helpful airport staff will ensure that our guests can begin their holidays when they arrive at the airport."

Beginning tomorrow through Christmas Eve, guests will be able to enjoy the music of carollers in the terminal buildings. Between 3:00-8:00 pm and 6:00-11:00 am on Christmas Eve, the carollers will be in various areas of the terminal buildings delighting guests with traditional Christmas music.

This year we’re taking the carolling one step further with a 'tweet-a-carol' program. Anyone with family or friends travelling on a flight within Canada between December 15 and 24 can send a tweet to @torontopearson with the first name, flight number and date of travel and our carollers will greet them with a holiday song.

Mrs. Claus will once again be making her way through Toronto Pearson's terminals reading stories to children waiting for their flights. Between December 15 and 24, families who have cleared security and are waiting in the gate areas can enjoy some relaxing holiday stories before they board their flights.

Toronto Pearson is also participating in Tourism Toronto’s Torontoland program. One of the 20 snowmen placed around Toronto has found its way to the domestic area of Terminal 1. Guests are encouraged to take their photo with the snowman and email or text it to Tourism Toronto and then a donation will be made to the Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada.

Guests travelling on December 22 and 23 will be greeted at the airport's doors by airport employees participating in the Ambassador Program. These volunteers will be throughout both terminals and parking garages welcoming guests with some holiday treats as they arrive at the airport.

The GTAA is the operator of Toronto Pearson International Airport, the busiest airport in Canada and one of the largest airports in North America in terms of passenger and air cargo traffic. In 2010, Toronto Pearson handled 31.9 million passengers. The focus of the GTAA continues to be on competitiveness, growing the airport’s status as an international gateway, meeting the needs of our travellers and ensuring the long-term success of the organization, our airline customers and the regional economy.
