Busy days ahead at Toronto Pearson

The airport is expecting to welcome approximately 100,000 guests on both Thursday and Friday this week as we head into the Christmas weekend.

One of the busiest travel weeks of the year has begun at Toronto Pearson. The airport is expecting to welcome approximately 100,000 guests on both Thursday and Friday this week as we head into the Christmas weekend. On an average day, about 87,000 guests pass through the airport.

There are many things happening at the airport to help guests enjoy their experience at Toronto Pearson. These include:

  • Christmas Carollers – Guests are being treated to Christmas songs being sung throughout the terminals.
  • Tweet-a-Carol - The public can tweet in a carol request to @torontopearson if they have family or friends travelling within Canada until December 24th.
  • Airport Ambassadors – GTAA employees will be acting as ambassadors on Thursday and Friday to greet passengers with a smile, answer any questions and help them find their way through the terminal buildings.
  • Mrs. Claus – As families wait for their flights, they can listen to Mrs. Claus read them some traditional Christmas stories.
  • Microsoft Picture Perfect Holiday – Microsoft has set up a booth in Terminal 1 where guests can stop by and have their free family picture taken in a holiday setting.
  • Parking Discount – Guests parking in the Terminal 1 and 3 parking garages until December 31st will receive a 30% discount on parking fees.
  • New Food and Beverage offerings – Camden Foods, Thai Express, Extreme Pita and Purblenz have opened up in Terminal 1 this week.

Passengers are reminded again at this busy time of year to be aware of restrictions on liquids, gels and aerosols when packing their carry-on luggage. These items must be packed in 100 ml containers and fit into one clear and resealable plastic bag. A single 1L bag is permitted per passenger. Passengers travelling with gifts in their carry on luggage are also reminded to leave gifts unwrapped as packages may be subject to inspection at security check points.
