EMIRATES’ ADELAIDE SERVICE TO OPEN UP MIDDLE EAST AND EUROPEAN DESTINATIONS
Adelaide Airport Limited (AAL) has welcomed today’s announcement by Emirates that it will fly four non-stop services a week between Adelaide and Dubai, starting November 1, 2012.
AAL Managing Director, Mark Young, said the new service would be the first ever operated by an international airline between Adelaide and the Middle East, and will open up new connections with European destinations such as London, Rome and Paris.
“Emirates is one of the world’s fastest growing airlines flying to 100 destinations globally, including 29 European cities,” Mr Young said.
“This service will open up a significant number of new and faster international connections for people travelling to and from Adelaide.
“It’s great news for South Australians travelling overseas, and it will make Adelaide and South Australia considerably more attractive to international tourists.
“Emirates has indicated to us the new service will utilise 354-seat Boeing 777-300ERs, which will be the largest passenger aircraft to fly to and from Adelaide on a regular basis.
“Adelaide Airport has experienced double-digit international passenger growth in recent years, and these new flights will further bolster those numbers.”
Emirates is the world’s largest airline as measured by international passenger numbers.
