About The Airport
In 2023, Malta International Airport welcomed a record 7,803,042 passengers, marking a 6.7% growth over 2019 traffic levels. This translates to nearly 500,000 additional passenger movements, comparable to the throughput of an average winter month for the airport. This strong performance positioned Malta International Airport among the fastest-recovering airports in Europe, outperforming many of its Southern European peers.
Now connected to 35 countries via over 100 direct routes, Malta International Airport is committed to further enhancing the islands’ connectivity and attracting year-round tourism. In fact, the warmth of the Maltese Islands extends beyond the idyllic summer months, with over 300 days of sunshine beckoning visitors to immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage, charming seaside towns and hidden treasures year-round.
Looking ahead, Malta International Airport plans to collaborate closely with local tourism stakeholders and partner airlines to secure both additional flight frequencies on existing European routes and establish new routes.
