MIA plc installs PV Farm

In line with the current environmental initiatives taking place in Malta, MIA plc is in the process of implementing tangible measures to reduce electrical consumption by means of the installation of a Photo Voltaic farm consisting of 435 polycrystalline panels.

This 100 kWpeak PV project will produce approximately 165,000 units of electrical power per year using solar energy. Such savings translate into a reduction of some €30,000 of MIA's electricity costs.

On environmental considerations it is pertinent to note that this project, which is currently the largest installation of its kind in Malta, is scheduled to be operational by November this year and is expected to reduce MIA's carbon footprint by about 145,000kgCO2 per year.

ElectrofixEnergy Ltd. have been awarded the contract for the supply, installation and commissioning of the complete system. This project, which is incurring an investment of €200,000 is being partly financed by the European Regional Development Fund through Malta Enterprise with a contribution of 50%.
