Growing international traffic and the 7th most recommended brand
November 2017 became the busiest month in the history of Aalborg Airport – with a large-scaled growth of the international traffic. At the same time, Aalborg Airport was elected as one of Denmark’s most recommended brands for a second consecutive year. Furthermore, an upgrade of Aalborg Airport’s instrumental landing system has been commenced, which will ultimately enable commercial flights to land in low visibility conditions.
The large growth of the international traffic continues at Aalborg Airport, and November 2017 subsequently became the busiest November in the history of Aalborg Airport - with a growth of 4.2 percent in relation to November 2016, and a growth of 3.3 percent in relation to the previous November-record in 2013. The growth of the total traffic numbers occurred despite a decline in the chartered and domestic traffic. Hence, 119,210 passengers travelled to and from the airport in November 2017 compared to 114,456 passengers in November 2016.
Among the most recommended brands in Denmark
YouGov Brandindex recently announced their report of the most recommended brands in Denmark. Aalborg Airport was elected as the 7th most recommended brand in Denmark for the second consecutive year among brands as Lego, Netflix and MobilePay.
- We are very delighted that Aalborg Airport for the second consecutive year is the 7th most recommended brand in Denmark, especially considering the fact that Aalborg Airport is the only local company in the top-10. It’s a huge pat on the shoulder to all of the employees of Aalborg Airport, who, everyday, puts in an effort to ensure that the passengers begin their journey in a pleasant way, says CEO Søren Svendsen.
Aalborg Airport towards new heights
The increasing international traffic at Aalborg Airport is steadily solidifying the Airport’s position as an international airport. As a part of the international development, Aalborg Airport has recently commenced an upgrade of its instrumental landing system.
- We will be the third airport in Denmark and the 145th on a global scale with a ILS CAT III classification of the instrumental landing system. The new instrumental landing system will help pilots navigate through low visibility conditions. It is of great importance for the Airlines that they always can land their aircrafts in low visibility conditions, which makes the upgrade to the new system crucial for the future negotiations of new routes. We are therefore looking forward to the completion of the upgrade in May 2018, CEO Søren Svendsen concludes.
In November 2017 Aalborg Airport saw a 54.8 percent growth in international traffic. Consequently, 33,732 passengers flew to and from foreign countries with commercial flights in November 2017 compared to 21,796 in November 2016.
