Winter Travel Season Begins with News for the Summer

In October 2024, the autumn break and the transition between the summer and winter schedules brought some busy travel days at Aalborg Airport, with sunny destinations like Crete, Malaga, Rhodes, and Gran Canaria among the most popular choices. October also featured a big announcement for next year's summer schedule: direct flights to Athens with Bravo Tours and Århus Charter, opening up access to the Greek holiday regions of Peloponnese and Evia.

With continued growth in international traffic and close to status quo in domestic and charter traffic, the total number of passengers reached 141,734 in October 2024, maintaining the same level as October last year.

Foreign Destinations Were a Hit in October

As usual, the school autumn break provided an opportunity for many Danish families to fulfill their holiday plans. This was especially evident in international traffic, where there were also more departures compared to the same month last year, including options to Malaga, Antalya, Alicante, and Oslo, along with new non-stop routes to Nice and Girona.

- In October, we once again see growth in international traffic, which is a result of both new and expanded routes to Spain and France, as well as the Oslo route with SAS, used by both business and leisure travelers. We've now entered the winter schedule, which means we’re heading into some quieter months, but still with a range of popular holiday destinations on the program – both with scheduled and charter flights. These include Malaga, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, and Fuerteventura, and we look forward to seeing destinations like La Palma, Madeira, the new destination Kenya, and the season’s ski trips take off later in the winter program, says CEO Niels Hemmingsen.

Major Charter News in the 2025 Summer Program

As the gray autumn and winter months settle over Denmark, with the travel program mainly focused on sun and warmth in the Canary Islands and European city breaks, airlines and travel companies are also fully focused on finalizing the last additions to the 2025 summer program.

- Looking ahead to the upcoming summer schedule from Aalborg Airport, we can look forward, as previously announced, to PLAY returning with their Iceland route and Ruby Rejser and Air Greenland flying directly to Nuuk in Greenland. But in late October, we also had a major charter announcement when Bravo Tours and Aarhus Charter announced direct flights to Athens from May to October next year, with Greek holiday experiences on offer in Peloponnese and on the island of Evia. Starting in Athens, there is a great opportunity to combine poolside and beach relaxation with unique city experiences in the historic Greek capital," concludes Niels Hemmingsen.
