Figures released today show another bumper year for Aberdeen International Airport with over 3.76 million passengers passing through, making it the busiest year in the airport’s history. This beats last year’s record high of 3.48 million, indicating an 8% rise on 2013 levels.
Airport MD Carol Benzie said: ‘2014 has been another great year for the airport, with the whole team working together in response to the increase in passengers. It’s a great achievement to see us reach such a high passenger figure and set what is a new record for us”.
“The year ahead will bring a number of challenges, but along with these, plenty of exciting developments. First and foremost, we look forward to working with our new owners in continuing to develop the airport and our offer to passengers. We will continue to work closely with airlines to improve connectivity to and from Aberdeen, and challenge relevant authorities on key issues including the devolution of Air Passenger Duty and surface access to our airport”.
The full year results have been published alongside the passenger totals for the month of December which saw numbers increase by 6.8% to 283,136. This was as a result of growth in both fixed-wing and helicopter operations.
