QAIA Registers Highest August Passenger Traffic Statistics in QAIA History

QAIA Registers the highest number of passengers in the history of the Airport

Amman, September 2015 - For the second consecutive month, Airport International Group (AIG) - the Jordanian company responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) - announced growth in year-on-year passenger traffic (PAX) during the month of August compared to the same month in 2014, while year-to-date (YTD) cargo traffic statistics recorded a notable 8.4% rise. In addition to QAIA’s growing network of airlines, the increase in statistics is largely attributed to leisure and expat travels during the high summer season.

During August, QAIA welcomed 830,001 PAX comparA new Milesed to 785,685 PAX, noting a significant 5.6% increase in comparison to the same period last year, and registered 7,168 aircraft movements (ACM) as opposed to 7,242 ACM, which indicated a 1% year-on-year decrease. Furthermore, QAIA handled 8,445 tons of cargo as opposed to 7,627 tons during the same month in 2014, registering a 10.72% rise.

Similarly, YTD cargo traffic figures increased by 8.4% increase to reach 65,251 tons as opposed to the same period during 2014. On the other hand, YTD PAX dropped by 2.3% to come in at 4,827,728 PAX and YTD ACM decreased by 3.6% to settle at 47,842 ACM.

“We’re delighted to have achieved a new milestone with QAIA registering the highest August PAX statistics in the airport’s history. This unprecedented success was mainly led by the expansion of QAIA’s network, as well as an increase in passenger traffic to and from the Gulf, Turkish, Libya, Iraqi and European Countries markets. On that note, we eagerly look forward to always setting new milestones and exceeding benchmarks at Queen Alia International Airport” stated Airport International Group CEO, Kjeld Binger.
