New route to Reykjavik introduced to key members of the Northern Ireland travel trade
George Best Belfast City Airport has recently hosted a VIP trade breakfast briefing with new airline partner, Icelandair, to inform key members of the Northern Ireland travel trade about its new route to Reykjavik.
The new route, which offers easy connections with Icelandair’s wide network of destinations in the US and Canada, will launch on 1st June.
Attended by 15 managers, directors and senior travel representatives from a range of companies - including Oasis Travel, Premier Travel and Bryan Somers Travel - the event allowed the attendees to hear from Mike Reynolds, Account Manager at Icelandair, and Ellie McGimpsey, Business Development Manager at Belfast City Airport.
Guests were also treated to a sit-down breakfast at the five-star Merchant Hotel.
Diane Risk, Travel Trade Consultant at Belfast City Airport and host of the event, said:
“We are very pleased to be able to introduce our local travel trade industry to this exciting new route with Icelandair to Reykjavik.
“These events provide a fantastic opportunity for our travel colleagues to learn about our airline brands.
“The attendees were able to hear directly from Mike Reynolds of Icelandair and ask questions about the new three-times-per-week service operated by sister airline Air Iceland.”
Ellie McGimpsey, Business Development Manager at Belfast City Airport, commented:
“Icelandair has a strong international presence and we believe our partnership with the airline for this new service will be a hugely welcome addition to the local market.
“There are a fantastic range of cultural events, activities and historical sites in Reykjavik and beyond which will really appeal to our passenger base.”
Mike Reynolds, Account Manager at Icelandair, said.
“I was delighted to be offered the opportunity to speak directly to the Northern Irish travel trade about our product and what it can offer local travellers.
“The route, which will operate three times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, will not only provide a link to the wonderfully unique city of Reykjavik, but will also offer smooth connections with a host of cities in the US and Canada including Boston, Seattle and Toronto.
“We look forward to developing a strong connection and presence here in Belfast.”
