Bratislava Airport Reaches One Million Passenger Milestone
More than 1,000,000 passengers have been handled on arrivals and departures at M. R. Štefánik Airport since the beginning of the year. The airport surpassed this years' 1 million passenger mark on July 25th with the arrival of passengers from Athens with Aegean Airlines.
“We reached the round number of one million passengers earlier in 2024 compared to last year – already on July 25th, while last year it was on August 3rd. We anticipate an increase in the total number of passengers handled in 2024 compared to last year and expect to approach the two million mark,” stated Dušan Novota, General Director and Chairman of the Board of M. R. Štefánik Airport.
“We would like to thank our passengers for choosing to fly from Bratislava as well as the airport employees for ensuring the smooth processing of arrivals and departures. We also extend our gratitude to the airlines and travel agencies without whom this milestone would be unreachable,” added the General Director.
The airport surpassed the 1 million passengers mark this year with the arrival from Athens with Aegean Airlines. The Greek airline, who launched regular flights between the capitals of Greece and Slovakia only last autumn, is one of the newest additions to carriers flying from Bratislava Airport.
Aegean Airlines is a member of the Star Alliance group and offers connecting flights in Athens to the Greek islands of Crete (both to Chania and Heraklion), Santorini, Rhodes, Mykonos, and Kos, as well as to lesser-known islands like Milos, Chios, Limnos, and other destinations in Europe and the Middle East. The ticket price includes refreshments and beverages, and passengers can enjoy a Wi-Fi connection on board and earn miles within the Miles+Bonus program.
