Airport seeks to expand international connections and strengthen its role in the global aviation sector

Viracopos International Airport in Campinas (São Paulo), Brazil, has confirmed its participation in Routes Americas 2025, the largest civil aviation event in the Americas, taking place in Nassau and Paradise Island, The Bahamas, from February 10 to 12. The goal of concessionaire Aeroportos Brasil Viracopos, which operates the airport complex, is to present a special incentives package to secure new routes and partnerships.

Routes Americas 2025 will gather hundreds of organizations, including 85 airlines, 170 airports, 40 tourism authorities, and 40 industry and tourism partners. The event focuses on developing new air services and brings the industry together to plan, discuss, and negotiate both new and existing routes.

In addition to unveiling its special incentives package to attract new routes, Viracopos will present results from specific studies related to business development at the airport. These studies were conducted by an international consultancy specializing in aviation.

“We will meet with some of the world’s leading airlines to present our special incentive proposals and showcase everything we’ve achieved at Viracopos, along with our plans and projects to foster new business opportunities. We’ll share data and research that position us as one of Latin America’s top destinations, according to industry professionals and passengers,” highlighted Maria Fan, Commercial Director of Viracopos.

Incentive Program

Viracopos’ Incentive Program offers national or international airlines looking to establish new regular international routes to/from the airport a wide range of options aimed at developing and consolidating new connections.

Viracopos will be represented at Routes Americas 2025 by Airline Business Manager Sergio Joau, who already has several meetings scheduled with industry representatives. Joau will also attend the IATA AirportIS Forum, taking place at the same location on February 13.

The IATA AirportIS Forum provides a unique opportunity for route development professionals to share insights on using passenger traffic intelligence. It serves as a strategic platform to explore best practices, support growth, and make informed decisions for airports and destinations worldwide.

Located in one of Brazil's most important technology hubs, the Campinas Metropolitan Region (RMC), Viracopos International Airport is just a 70-minute drive from the city of São Paulo. Surrounded by top universities, highways, and cutting-edge technology companies, Viracopos is one of the country’s most prominent passenger movement centers. Viracopos is also a major gateway for goods, strategically positioned near highways that streamline product distribution across São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Santos area, and other regions of Brazil.

Cargo Terminal Infrastructure

Viracopos’ Cargo Terminal (TECA) is one of Brazil's most important and busiest, ranking as the country's largest in terms of imported cargo. With a modern infrastructure for handling, storing, and clearing cargo, it processes about one-third of all air cargo arriving in Brazil.

The TECA covers a total area of 90,000 m², featuring advanced security monitoring systems, automated storage systems, live cargo facilities, and strategically positioned aircraft parking areas in front of the terminal.

The terminal also includes a Cold Chain segment with 3,100 m² of space, 11 cold chambers with antechambers to maintain precise temperatures, and a dedicated frozen chamber set at -18°C. Additionally, it offers 24/7 temperature monitoring and control.

Awards and Recognition

In June 2024, Viracopos was named Cargo Airport of the Year at the World Air Cargo Awards, a prestigious global logistics award held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in China. Viracopos was the only Brazilian airport among the finalists and was awarded based on a voting process open exclusively to corporate email accounts.
