With rugby fever upon us once again, Edinburgh Airport is gearing up for the thousands of fans expected to travel through the terminal over the coming weeks.
Scotland fans, in particular, are now in for a treat with a brand new Scottish Rugby store open in the airport’s departure lounge, offering everything from official jerseys and hoodies, to kilts, saltire flags and scarves.
There is everything an avid Scotland fan would need to kit themselves out ahead of the national side’s fixtures over the next few weeks.
The Scotland team stopped by the new store yesterday ahead of flying to Paris for their first match of the tournament against France tomorrow.
Players Greig Laidlaw and Stuart Hogg browsed some of the official merchandise and chatted to fans before boarding their flight.
The pod will be open in the airport’s departure lounge for the duration of the RBS 6Nations, closing on 31 March.
A signed rugby shirt is also on display with raffle tickets available from the store. Money from the tickets will go to rugby charity Hearts and Balls.
The innovative pop-up shopping concept landed at Edinburgh Airport last summer, launching with an official Ryder Cup store.
Edinburgh was the first airport to own one of these flexible retail units which can be easily adapted to offer passengers a wide range of products.
With more passengers than ever before travelling through Scotland’s busiest airport, most recently exceeding the 10 million passenger mark for 2014, the new retail pod offers customers a brand new travel shopping experience.
Richard Townsend, Head of Retail and Property at Edinburgh Airport, said: "With the RBS 6Nations about to begin this is a great opportunity for rugby fans travelling through the airport to pick up some essential merchandise.
"It’s the first time we’ve had any form of sports retailer in the airport and are sure it’ll be a popular choice for our passengers, especially with thousands of rugby fans expected to travel through the terminal over the coming weeks.
"This new retail unit opened last summer and was the first of its kind in any UK airport. It allows us to link with events, both at home and abroad, and bring them into the airport. From rugby to golf, to Scottish food and drink, we’re really spoiled for choice.
"With our national side gearing up for their campaign, there’s no better time to launch our official Scottish Rugby pod."
